The pics below are of Jim Vanderway's (WT member) '62 PU. I took these pics (except for the pic with the boat) on 1/6/01 when I made a trip over to his place to pick up a 6-230 that Jim was giving away. Jim has his PU outfitted with a fuel injected Chevrolet 350, an automatic transmission, a Spicer 18 transfer case, a Warn overdrive, a Spicer 53 rear end, a Spicer 25 front end and power assisted drum brakes. Jim and I have become friends since these pictures were taken and just recently Jim let me take "Green" for a drive. This rig drives like a dream. The 350 provides plenty of power and the custom exhaust soothes the ears with a gentle rumble. Check out the upholstery work on the bench seat and overhead console. Jim did the upholstery work himself. He is a magician with sewing machine.

UPDATE 1/20/03
Jim has been hassling me to update the information listed here regarding his
truck. He really doesn't like to be misrepresented. So Jim, this one
is for you:
Axles: Jim got the urge last year for bigger brakes (i.e. more stopping
power), stronger axles, and most importantly, a higher (numerically lower) gear
ratio. Jim has got to be the luckiest person alive because he gets almost
everything for free or next to nothing. Jim found a full size jeep (FSJ)
truck at his brother's house that was willing to part with its axles for FREE.
The FSJ had a rear full float Dana 60 and a front Dana 44 with open knuckles
and disc brakes. The rear Dana 60 was a perfect fit in terms of width
but the front Dana 44 was a bit too wide. To solve this problem, Jim found
a front Dana 44 (again for free) from a late 70's model Wagoneer (gee, I wonder
where he got that idea?) However, the Wagoneer
Dana 44 was 6 lug and his Dana 60 was 8 lug and to top it off, the gear ratios
didn't match. Jim, being the crafty guy that he is, found a simple solution.
He removed the carrier, gears, and brake rotors from the FSJ Dana 44 and installed
these parts on the Wagoneer 44. The parts bolted right up and Jim was
ready to go. After the swap was complete, Jim removed the Warn overdrive
because it would no longer be needed. Now Jim can cruise down with freeway
at 70+ MPH without using an overdrive.
